As Charles Spurgeon wisely wrote, “I have learned to kiss the waves that throw me up against the Rock of ages.” The imperfections and pain of life are not pretty. But there is profound beauty in any journey that places our heart in the hands of Jesus. 

Whatever our limitations may be in life, we are wise to ask how our struggles may be asking us to grow, learning to see the invitation in the most trying of circumstances. What could we gain when we give up the need to do it all?

When we believe that we are worthy from the start, we feel free to pursue our true purpose instead of feeling the need to let stress prove we have purpose.

We know right from wrong. We are aware of what it looks like to make wise decisions. But, what happens when we face adversity in the workplace?

I’m a dreamer. This fact was made clear to me at an early age through my tendency to obsessively set goals and see just how fast I could achieve them. I’ve lived most of my life with one foot in the future, allowing my brain space to be consumed by who I would be someday instead of who I was right then.

No one is perfect. You won’t get it right all the time. But know that your best is enough as you negotiate the dynamics between generations in your family.

Many of us invest a lot of time and energy ensuring that our relationships are healthy, connected, and close, but what about our relationship with ourselves?

While numbers are a reality of the world in which we live, I believe there is much to be enjoyed in focusing on a fruitful life, rather than a successful one.

Somehow “smart” has become something that we either are or are not. It’s easy to understand how our perspective has been shaped the way it has. After all, most schools and many workplaces tend to measure and celebrate a very specific kind of intelligence. Not all of us have been given a safe place to display our particular brand of “smart.”

Whether you are someone who is comfortable with large parties or someone who gets nervous at the thought of even attending one, we are wise to keep a few things in mind that are sure to help us work a room and intentionally connect with other people.
